Key Distinction: Calling Versus Purpose

Before we get started, we need to define (in simple terms) the difference between a calling and a purpose. A calling and purpose are two completely different things. Here’s the simplest way to define and distinguish between each…

A calling is a somewhat general direction in life that encompasses various aspects such as your career, gifts, and talents. It is often manifested through the work you do to serve others. Your calling can evolve and change as you go through different stages of life, and it should ideally align with, and contribute to, the fulfillment of your ultimate purpose.
A purpose is extremely specific and singular, often encompassing a paramount objective that you are destined to achieve in this lifetime, one that distinguishes you from all others. It represents a culmination of your life experiences, where God guides you towards the ultimate pinnacle of your existence.

Example 1: Jesus did many things according to His calling such as: He preached, taught about the Kingdom of God, used parables to illustrate significant principles, healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead, etc. But, His purpose was to die on the cross so that: our sins could be forgiven, we could be made kings in His kingdom, receive the power to become fully mature sons, He cast out Satan from his position as the “god of this world”, be brought back into relationship with God the Father and restore everything (plus more) that was lost at the sin of Adam and Eve.

For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Example 2: Joseph had a calling to interpret dreams, and he did that for a number of people. But, his purpose was to be used by God to save the known world from a famine which in turn brought the knowledge of God to everyone by the evidence that his wisdom and ability to interpret dreams far surpassed anyone else in Egypt. God used Joseph to make a distinction between Himself and all the false idol gods which were commonly worshipped by those outside of the Israelite people.

Dreams: God’s Hidden Communication Through Nighttime Parables

Starting in 2011, I began a diligent search to find out what God had planned for my life. I had spent the previous 40 years of my life without a clear idea of why I was really here. As a result of my lack of understanding, I drifted and wandered quite a bit for many years. I tried a number of things in an attempt to grab onto something that made me feel like I had experienced the “eureka” moment when everything finally made sense. However, it was not until 2011 when God convinced me that the supernatural was real that I finally began receiving the initial clues about my calling and purpose.

As I continued down my path of discovering my calling and purpose, I began noticing that God was giving me the clues I needed in my dreams at night. My dreams were (and still are) very symbolic and required study and research to find what it was that God was trying to reveal to me. As my seeking for God’s direction and my dreams progressed, my dreams began to show more and more about what God had planned for my life. Most of the revelations came in dreams but there were prophetic words (as well as a big one from a globally-known and validated prophet) that likewise pointed even more in the direction the things I had been seeking answers to.

I began to understand that my calling and purpose (as well as yours) is far too valuable for God to just tell us in plain language without some serious effort on our part to look for it. When you think about the most valuable natural resources on planet earth, you find that gold, silver, platinum, diamonds and oil are hidden far beneath the ground. It requires time, effort and money for companies to discover and dig up, process and sell to the general public. This is a natural-realm parallel with spiritual-realm principles which we find in the Biblical in the book of Proverbs…

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

In many other passages and stories in the Bible, we see additional examples of God hiding things that are too valuable to just leave laying out on the surface. In the Gospels, we even see where Jesus expressly stated that the reason He spoke in parables was for the purpose of hiding the information He presented in such a way that the wrong people would never be able to understand it. This is exactly what God did with me in my dreams. He used symbols and scenarios that I had to search diligently in order to comprehend what He was trying to show me. Sometimes the understanding of my dreams came quickly but other times, it required months or years before I knew what they meant.

And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand.

Dreams Based On Your Unique Divine Purpose

Now that we briefly introduced the idea of God speaking to you in very personal ways through your dreams at night, we need to move on to the next level. When God is showing you clues to your calling and purpose in your dreams, the type of dreams you have will be based on what He made you to do. Some people, like myself, have a ton of science and technology related dreams because, we have inventions and business ideas which God intended us to create here on earth. Others have a ministry calling and as a result, God uses dreams that show ministry themes of various types (healing, miracles, preaching, etc).

This is exactly what we see in the dreams that Joseph had as a teenager about his future in Egypt. Many people do not teach this but if you look at the types of symbols God used in his dreams, they were showing exactly what he would be working with years later when Egypt was about to go through a famine – sheaves of wheat!!

For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

The same is true for all of us! If you have a calling to business, God will show you that in your dreams. If you have a calling to the medical field, you will have dreams showing that. If you are supposed to be a teacher, scientist, doctor, business founder, or whatever, God will give you dreams that contain symbols relevant to what He made you to be. And of course, in addition to all that, God will still give you dreams about personal topics which I write about extensively here in this website.

God’s plan is that you go through His character development process as a mandatory part of fulfilling His plan for your life. It does no good for you to get all these dreams about scientific breakthroughs or new businesses and then end up in Hell because of how you lived your life. NO. God expects ALL of us to live up to the same standards, regardless of what your calling and purpose is! No one gets a free ride!! I had to learn this myself and it is a very important point to make.

Just because you have some great invention (as with myself), that does NOT mean you have a higher status with Him!! The only thing that gives you status with God is the condition of your heart and how closely you follow Him and how you handle the people around you. That is too big of a topic for me to sufficiently include here but that also must be stated.

The Reason For Missing Global Solutions

Now we need to deal with the problem of those who God intended to change the world but… they didn’t bother to ask why He put them here. Each person on planet earth was designed intentionally by God long before the world was created but, hardly anyone ever goes through the right process to discover what that is. We have a world loaded with problems that almost no one is adequately and competently solving. When we pray the “Lord’s Prayer”, it says “on earth as it is in Heaven”. What that means is, what is up there in Heaven is supposed to make its way down here to earth. Let me emphasize… supposed to. And yet, most of the time, it never does.

In my first-ever dream about my space energy invention in 2014, I saw a large 5-engine jumbo jet that came from way behind the house where I grew up. The jet flew overhead close enough so I could see certain details that relate to the invention and my calling / purpose. But, the part I want to call attention to is that this huge jet came from way behind the backyard of the house. In the dream, the backyard represents the past, and I came to understand this meant the entire past, before I was born and even before the world was created! That is exactly what God said about Jeremiah but it applies to each one of us equally!

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

My Testimony: How God Revealed My Calling & Purpose

When dealing with the subject of how God reveals our calling and purpose in our dreams, we need to emphasize that the first step in discovering His plan is by asking the right questions. Specifically related to our dreams at night, this is what you should be asking…

What if the answer to your questions about the meaning of your life is hidden in strange and hard-to-understand dreams at night?
What if all your questions have been answered long before you were ever born but, the way to find them required learning how the God of the Bible has hidden them in such a way that is uniquely designed for you?

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

When I started learning to ask the right questions, my life took a drastic turn over a decade ago when I realized God was showing me my life calling and purpose in my dreams at night. I spent 4 decades of my life having NO awareness that my purpose was (among other things) to be the real-life version of Tony Stark and bring a globe-changing invention that completely changed the way we produce and use electrical energy. Prior to that, I spent 20 years of my life in the US Air Force as an intelligence officer and separately, as a civilian pilot / instructor. I had no significant educational background in electronics, physics or electrical engineering!

The same may be true for you! Unless you do the same thing I did, you have no idea that God may have something hidden for you which is completely unlike anything you have done or considered at any point in your life. Many of us do what I did initially – I chased after my interests and talents but gave no consideration for what may have transcended all that. Remember, because your purpose is so valuable, God will require you to go on a serious search until you find it and fulfill it.

This is why I have such a strong conviction when I speak on the topic of discovering and fulfilling YOUR God-intended calling and purpose. God planned from the beginning of time that I would bring something from Heaven to earth that would change everything and directly contribute to the fulfillment of certain aspects of end-times prophecy. But… had I not gone on an urgent search for why He put me here, I would have missed my entire life purpose and who knows if He would have chosen someone else for this assignment?! My point here is: THE SAME IS TRUE FOR YOU.

This is why God also gave me the assignment to post my testimony progressively, one piece at a time, here on this blog site and in my ebooks, podcasts and videos. There are so few people who have gotten the clue to ask God the right questions and fulfill their purpose and even fewer who know what it takes to go through God’s training process to be used according to why they were made. I had to learn most of this the hard way, one piece at a time but, because God gave me the assignment to post all that I’ve learned here, you can learn from my process and be greatly accelerated as a result.
