Life Calling Dreams: An Illustration Of Your Past As Training For Your Future

If you saw my recent post on how God uses your dreams at night to show clues to your calling and purpose, this is a perfect follow up. A few weeks ago, I had a dream that sort of hit me out of the blue. The dream contained a combination of past plus present in a parable where my experience as a pilot was used to provide insight into how my entire life was used by God as building blocks for my future. Repeated Symbol With New Meaning

Today’s blog contains a symbol that first appeared in a dream several years ago and referred to a relatively common object (airplane) that was manufactured from composite materials. If you’re new to the art of interpreting dreams, airplanes often appear as symbols that show something about what’s going on with your life. In my blogs are many examples of dreams that contain a wide variety of airplanes and what they symbolically represent.

In the new dream I’m writing about today, a certain type of airplane reappeared from a previous dream. This time, it was a personal metaphor that helped illustrate how my past and future are connected. Here is the link to my original blog where that exact airplane appeared. Dream: A Pilot’s Logbook With “Composite” Experiences

December 16, 2023 (11:45 pm) – I’m flying in an old twin engine airplane (seemed vaguely like a WW2 De Havilland Mosquito) in the copilot (right) seat with an instructor. When the flight ends and we land, I’m looking through my flight logbook for where to record the flight but, there are so many pages there that have nothing to do with flying. I’m going through all these pages trying to find the last place where I had flights recorded. I see all kinds of things in there including lists of people, like military rosters with personal data including photos of myself (although as a civilian) from Air Force intelligence training school and even a guy I met from a local hotel last year. The logbook is half filled with all this other stuff and I’m thinking I need a new book to put my flights in from now on.

Primary symbols explained…

Old airplane = represents my past life experiences plus the ancient (old) principles from the Bible which God still uses today to train us for our calling and purpose.
DeHaviland Mosquito = (a WW2 British airplane, a repeat symbol from a past dream) this previously required research (as seen in the blog linked above), the primary key here is that this aircraft was made from composite materials which represents how God puts many dissimilar aspects of a person’s life together in order to “construct” the future “composite” version of them with all the skills and experiences needed to be successful in a future assignment and to fulfill their true life purpose.
Instructor = dual meaning: 1) a literal upcoming flight with an actual flight instructor (which took place 2 weeks later), 2) God as the director / teacher where He sits in the primary “pilot seat” with ultimate authority over my life.
Copilot seat = this is the secondary (copilot) position; the reason I am there is because I chose willingly to throw out my own plan / agenda for my life and instead to submit to God’s plan (which I did over a decade ago).
Logbook = normally, an official record of flight hours logged for a pilot, but in this case, it represents all my past activities / life experiences that God has been using to develop me for my real purpose in life.
Miscellaneous data = (in logbook) this was information that is out of place in a real pilot’s logbook; as such, it represents everything I’ve done in my life to date, including things that I was skeptical of whether they were part of God’s real plan for me (a real pilot logbook would only contain information about flights flown but, this one contained all sorts of data that has nothing to do with flying).
Intelligence training = dual meaning: my literal past military career when I did in fact go through Air Force intelligence training plus, my more recent studying (as a non-military person) to become a dream interpreter since 2011.

Dual Meaning Explained: A Literal Flight + Past Life Experience

As I explained above, there is a dual message that my dream was showing. Two weeks after the dream, I was literally in the front right seat of a twin engine airplane with an instructor in the left seat who was flying it. Because I had not flown in any airplane since 2011, this was a relatively big event for me and God wanted to give me a hint about it ahead of time, as He often does.

For the sake of clarifying this point, I used to fly actively as a civilian pilot with five FAA licenses / ratings. Flying was always a very big part of my life until 2011 when I walked away from it in order to pursue God’s real plan for why He put me here. I realize now that my choice to make such a sacrifice was a test which I passed easily and, most likely because of that, God has been showing me that I will return to flying again as a pilot and owner of a private jet.

On a much larger scale, the dream was primarily showing me how God is using my entire past life experience as preparation for my real purpose in life. At the time of the dream, I really was not thinking too much about my past life so I thought it unusual that God would give me such a dream. Having said that, there have been a few times when I did seriously wonder whether or not my previous career and jobs were really God’s plan. When you consider how God intended, from the beginning of time, that I would become a global technology inventor, my previous experiences has almost no immediately obvious relationship to any of that!

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.

The Main Point For You

If you get serious about wanting to discover and fulfill God’s real plan for your life, this dream can help you understand how your past can be used for your future. Suppose you have already been seeking God’s plan for your life but at this point, it seems like you are in a type of work that has no clear connection to what His real purpose is for you. This dream is proof that, if you totally submit to God’s plan for your life, He can and will use everything from the past to “construct” you for your real purpose.

Again, look at how God’s plan for me to be a global technology inventor has very little to do with my past Air Force career. This is much more profound than I can explain in a blog but, I have dealt with that in many other places. There are so many things God needs us to be prepared for and many times, His choice of paths may not make the most sense while we are in the midst of the development process. Let me say it again – the faster we submit to God’s real plan for our life, the faster we are on the path He really wants us on in order to properly develop us!

Literal Scenic Flight Hinted At In Dream

Here is the December 31, 2023 scenic flight that my dream hinted at only 2 weeks in advance. I took this video from the right seat of a twin engine Beechcraft Baron as we flew over the USAF Academy and around Pikes Peak. In the left seat was a flight instructor named Scott who appeared in a dream I wrote about in my recent blog: From Dreams To Reality: Recent Examples Of God’s Nighttime Guidance For A New Business Startup | Space Energy Invention Update.
