Politics, Prophecy & The Kingdom Of God: Setting Proper Order (Part 1)

I’ve been on a journey in the last decade or so where I’ve been trying to figure out where politics, prophecy and the Kingdom of God all fit together. On the one hand, prophecy tells us what might happen in the future and on the other hand, the Kingdom of God exists to exercise dominion over the realm of the kingdom of man. During the last 2 election cycles, I’ve gone through a rather rough pendulum swinging experience trying to sort all this out. Fortunately, in the midst of that, I’ve slowly come to understand what the proper order is and how we must handle this realm of politics. Here’s what I’ve been learning…

My Difficult Journey To Becoming A King

Perhaps you know by now that I have been covering various aspects of the Kingdom of God in my blogs in the last few years. I post what I’ve been learning and according to what I’ve been putting into practice in my life. When I first heard teaching on the Kingdom of God, it was like hearing about a totally foreign subject. Initially, I had a very hard time understanding what this supernatural entity was and how it was supposed to make things happen in my life.

As I’ve said before, one of the first problems I ran into was that I, as an American westerner, had NO experience with a kingdom governmental structure. My entire life has been lived within a western democracy form of government. As a result, having no natural experience with a kingdom, it was impossible to understand what a spiritual kingdom should look like. The reason I was never previously taught about the Kingdom of God was that the American church had the same problem as I did. You can’t teach about something that you don’t know anything about.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 6:33 (KJV)

Moving on in my personal journey… As I began to learn what it meant to be a king in God’s kingdom, I started looking for ways to make it manifest certain results in my life. At first, I really didn’t see anything but, as time went on, I could look back and realize that there were results. Initially, I had overlooked some things God was doing because they were too subtle for me to pick up on at the time.

Fast forward to today, 9+ years after being fully immersed in true Kingdom of God teaching, I’m much better able to understand and recognize how to walk according to my status in God’s kingdom. So, let’s get to the purpose of this blog: how to properly handle politics, prophecy and our position as a king in the Kingdom of God.

The Order: Kingdom Of God Vs Kingdom Of Man

In order to approach the topic of politics and the Kingdom of God, we must first understand what each of these realms really are. We must define the terms we are dealing with and understand each element in their proper context. Here’s a very simple and partial starting point…

  • The political affairs of a nation are in the realm of the kingdom of man.
  • The Kingdom of God is superior to the kingdom of man.
  • Earthly kingdoms are often ruled by demonic kingdoms.
  • The Kingdom of God is where divine wars are fought.
  • Churches are a priestly entity which is prohibited from fighting in the Bible.
  • Kings are made for war and are trained through a process (not an instant promotion).
  • A fully trained king in God’s kingdom has dominion over all that is in the earth realm.
  • Just as with a natural kingdom, a spiritual kingdom has a structure where not everyone has equal rank.

NOTE: Some of the above elements have already been explained in previous blogs about the Kingdom of God (see links below).

Now that we have a few basics covered, we need to remember another very important order regarding the Kingdom of God and the church. They are NOT the same!! God’s established governmental system, established billions of years ago, is a kingdom, not a church or a western democracy.

The Church & It’s Roles Within The Kingdom

As I’ve explained previously, the kingdom is first, the church is second. But in my country, that is not what you see. Most of the time, you find churches that do not understand the basic distinction between the two. Because of a lack of understanding, they are completely out of order and they have no results. The church is NOT first and, it is not capable of fighting against a demonic kingdom. Just as in the Old Testament, priests were prohibited from fighting. Kings fought wars, priests did not.

Kingdom of God vs Church: Purpose, Order, Organizational Snapshot & Cultural Characteristics

The church is within and subordinate to the Kingdom of God, the two are NOT the same. The Kingdom of God is where divine wars are fought. The church is a defensive entity that was established to deal with the problem of sin and for developing people into fully mature kings. Just as with the kingdom, the church has various roles explicitly defined in the Bible. While necessary, the positions in the church are LOWER than positions within the kingdom.

And now finally, with that lengthy introduction, this is where we now get to the question of prophets, prophecies and politics.

Setting Order In The Church (Especially with Prophecy)

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:28 (KJV)

As I said at the top, in past years, I had some very big problems understanding how to properly handle prophecies, prophets and politics. On the one hand, I had been learning about prophecy for close to 20 years and I was wrongly led to believe that it was the most important thing. But, on the other hand, in more recent years, I had now been learning about the vast realm of the Kingdom of God and how it has dominion over everything which is subordinate to it.

Since the church is beneath the Kingdom of God in rank, prophecy and prophets do NOT carry the ultimate authority in any area, especially regarding politics (the kingdom of man). Beyond that, prophets are not even the top rank in the church! Prophets rank subordinate to apostles and, as we learn from Apostle Paul, at no time are prophecies to be exalted above their second-order status (Acts 21:10-14)

When a church or prophetic ministry is not subordinate to an apostle, and they raise their prophets and prophecies to the top level, they are completely out of order. They end up deceiving their people into putting inappropriate weight on a lower-level realm. And that is where many American churches are right now. There are many popular “political prophets” speaking about politics on a daily basis and most of what they say is way off and missing the mark.

A prophet and a prophecy is beneath the level of the Kingdom of God. Just because you hear a prophecy of what will happen in a few months after the US elections, that does NOT mean it will come true. Four years ago, I heard many of these political prophets say all kinds of things, NONE Of which ever came true!!

“Prophets are second not first. Meaning, THEY ARE NOT PRIMARY like the church has made them! Although their ministry is vitally important, it is second not first, which means prophecy or the prophetic office is not to be treated like it is the whole thing. The Bible says, “For we know in part, and we prophesy in part,” (1 Corinthians 13:9). The church has gotten off with this thinking.

Prophecy and the prophetic office do not fall in the realm of maturity! Prophecy and prophets are only for the earthly realm not for Heaven where things are perfect! “But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away,” (1 Corinthians 13:10).”

Taking Down Demonic Kingdoms That Rule The Kingdom Of Man

Now that we have established correct order with the Kingdom of God, the church, and the realm of prophets and prophecies, we need to tackle the real issue. When you think about it, the unstated goal of these political prophets is to bring about a change in the spiritual and natural state of the country. As stated above, since we know that prophets have NO dominion over the affairs of a kingdom (including that of man), then we need to find out what IS the way that God established for causing overwhelming changes to governments that are out of order with God.

That is precisely what we will deal with in part 2 of this blog. To be continued…
