I’ve said this before and it needs to be said again, with extra emphasis this time: the vast majority of people on earth live an upside-down and backwards life. How?? A very simple question can sort all this out. But, unless you answer it truthfully, nothing I write here will make one ounce of difference. In this episode, I want to tell you what life will look like when you are actively working to fulfill your God-intended purpose. There are some realities you need to be prepared for and I’ve walked through long enough to know what you are going to experience along the way. Let’s get started…
DISCLAIMER: This is a very direct style of post but I had to make it that way for reasons that will be explained in due time. There are many harsh realities the modern day church refuses to accept and, as a result, they have no results. Much of what God required me to do was not at all to my liking and I had a very hard time while going through some of it. I’ve tried to write this honestly without putting on a false pretense. If I were to water this down, I would be greatly misleading you. My purpose in writing all this to tell all that I’ve learned which I didn’t have before I started my journey.
Most Will Tell Lies
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 (KJV)
Question: What is the most important thing in your life?
I need to ask you something right now. From experience, I can guarantee that your answer has a 99% chance of being a total lie. Why?? Simple: because, unless you go through the process I’ve been telling about here in this new series, your answers are based on only theories. It’s not your fault that this is so, I’m just saying that it’s not possible to know what you are going to do when you get into a situation you’ve never had to deal with before.
Speaking in my own case, I never thought God would require me to give up everything I owned and all my money. As I got farther and farther into giving everything up, it started to become obvious that my real priority was having a comfortable life. I did not respond too well when my money went to zero and most of my material possessions were no longer mine. That plus, the number of years I had to live like that. Let’s just say I had many melt downs during those early years, which really served to prove that my real priorities in life were to live a nice convenient life filled with the things I wanted.
And so it will probably be for you when you get into God’s ancient training program (aka: the wilderness). You’re going to be tested in every area imaginable and in many cases, you will do as I did; fail miserably. God does this for a reason – to expose the reality of who you really are at the deepest parts of your heart (most of it is very ugly, in case you’re wondering).
God’s training program is very harsh and austere for a reason. It forces you to find out what you really are so He can actually use you for something. Most people will answer my question about their priorities with such nonsense that, if everything were taken away from them, you would see very quickly what really was the most important thing in their life. And I can almost guarantee that exposure would be the total opposite of whatever they wanted themselves to believe. Again… that is God’s intent! So you can come face to face with the truth. Until you do this, He cannot trust you with any type of greatness in His kingdom.
Harsh Realities About Self (Revealed For A Purpose)
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Matthew 6:26 (KJV)
The purpose for getting the real answer to that question above is so that you can see why I can make the bold claim that almost everyone on earth lives their lives with priorities that are complete nonsense. If you are really being honest, your life routine only exists so you can live a certain quality of life. Your bills and your material possessions are the most important thing on your priority list. Your real “god” is exactly as I found out myself: mammon (a demon behind the world system of money).
I say this because I have already been living like that for most of the last 10 years. I had to give up almost everything I own and have ZERO source of income for almost that entire time. I found out what it meant to have to live on faith just for $5 or $10 so I could buy plain dry oatmeal so I and my wife would not starve. I found out what it’s like when you have to live with other people who are nothing like you (and are extremely hostile towards you) because you cannot pay for a place to live on your own.
I’m writing all this as a very well university educated, former military officer with valuable and employable skills. I’m not writing this as a person who is an idiot and serves no purpose in society. As I said before, I chose to do what it took to fulfill my purpose because, to fail to find (and fulfill) the real reason God put me here for, was no longer an option. I reached the point that I would have rather died than to waste my life living according to material comforts.
Again, repeating for emphasis… I did not always have a good attitude during the worst parts of my journey. Some of it was absolutely horrible and I would get so angry at times because of the “prison-like existence” God put me in. YES, I got offended at God because of what He did to me after I asked Him for something very good that would benefit many people in the world, especially those who lived in poverty. If I make all this sound like I passed it with flying colors, then I would also be a total liar.
So, yes, I know what it is like to feel like God is nowhere to be found and He has left you to die. I know what it is like to sleep in a car, watching the sun go down in a Colorado winter with the sickening feeling that no miracle will come through for you. Everyone else around you in that busy shopping area has everything they need except you. You walk through the stores just hoping God will send the person you need there but, it almost never happens.
You try as hard as you can to focus your mind on all the Bible passages about faith and how God provides when you “seek first…” but it breaks down rather quickly. You really want to scream and go into an all out tirade because of the horrid conditions forced upon you. Or… just cry. The world around you is filled with abundance but you have nothing. And you did not have to live this way.
This Is Where The Bill Comes Due (Globally)
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
But, here’s how it worked out for me… even though I felt like I would die, I did not. Instead, I barely made it. Living in a car in winter was horrible (but I only had to do it twice). Living in “third world hotels” for several months was only slightly better (in the USA). Knowing how easy it would have been to have money and a normal life but yet, this is what God did to me. Watching the world around me live without a single care for house, car, food, clothing and all the rest (while I had almost nothing) was an experience beyond words.
And to remember that I got this because I dared to ask God for something none of my former church friends had faith for. First, because they had no faith and secondly, because their real priorities were a comfortable life at the expense of doing what God put them here for (and they justified it with all the baby-bottle Bible verses).
The wilderness is the place where you have barely enough to survive. It is a mandatory part of God’s training plan that the modern day church refuses to accept. As a result, they will never get into the promised land of their true purpose. That is why there are almost no modern-day Solomon’s. There are only very evil people who run big tech companies and sit in government offices pushing their filth and wickedness on everyone and ensuring poverty continues in many nations worldwide.
All because God’s people really did not want what He had for them. It’s called valuing self above all others. They were unwilling to pay the price in God’s “ancient training program” so He would promote them like Joseph in Egypt to the highest levels of global influence. They were liars who never found out the answer to our question at the top. So the world had to pay the price for it.
Jesus gave up everything for us but, in return, we refuse to put ourselves to death so that the world may benefit from what God would give us for their sake.
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:6-8 (KJV)
The Right Side Up Life (How Solomons Are Made)
Well, this is totally not what I thought I was writing about today. It is instead, what God impressed upon me to say. My description of what it was like living on nothing, staring at the feeling of death out the window in that Colorado winter cannot be put into words. No one will ever know what that was like, unless maybe those who live in third world / underdeveloped countries.
The point is – God has a training program that few want anything to do with. He also has a reward system that those same refusers will never get. God pays those who diligently follow Him.
When Jesus said “seek first the kingdom” (not a job to pay your bills and live a comfortable life), He meant it. He was trying to say there is something much more valuable than you could ever imagine at the end of your wilderness. But… only if you go through the ancient process to obtain the prize. And that includes things in eternity which, if you do not earn them here on earth, you will never get the chance again in Heaven.
Your purpose is infinitely more valuable than what you’ve been told. It’s worth giving up everything for. It’s changed me in ways I can’t even begin to describe in 10,000 words. Go after God and get yours.
To be continued…
