It was sometime in the Fall of 2009 (or was it 2010). I was listening to a Christian radio station in the Washington DC area and I heard the 90-second story of a real man who lived hundreds of years ago. The story grabbed me in such a way that I could no longer look at the world as I had been. I could no longer go through life focusing only on what I wanted or needed in my life. Little did I know, God had just given me my new direction and it would lead to a total upheaval of everything I thought I knew and believed…

A Much Larger View Of Life

Up to that point in my life around 2009, I still really only had one goal: despite the Air Force not letting me fly, I still wanted to fulfill that part of my life. True, I had become a pilot and began building up flying hours (as many do) as an instructor. That was an alright idea but it did not make me feel like I was really doing what I was put here for in life.

So it was, in 2009, in an Arlington, Virginia apartment, God was about to flip my life upside down and give me a new direction that would change the rest of my life. It was the story of a real man who lived hundreds of years ago who inherited wealth and gave it to those in need. The way that story was told made a very deep emotional connection with me in ways I cannot easily put into words.

The Real Saint Nicholas Of Patara

Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Saint Nicholas was a real man who lived in the 4th-century. He became a bishop in the early church and was known for his generosity and kindness, particularly towards children and the poor. He is the historical figure behind the modern day Santa Claus, and is celebrated on December 6th in many cultures.

When I heard the true story of that man on that Washington DC radio station, it inspired me to give more than just the 10% tithe to my church. I also wanted to give to those in need, especially to children. One Sunday at my church, Compassion International came with displays of children all over the world who were in need. As I read their stories, I decided to sponsor two boys (both 2 years old) in South America. I continued that sponsorship (with additional giving to the ministry) for the next 13 years until they were teenagers and graduated from the program.

During those years, my overall giving increased to 20-38% of my annual pre-tax income to my church and ministries like Compassion. But it wasn’t enough. I knew I could do more, if God made a way. So, I began asking Him to give me a way to make more money so I could give more to ministries. It wasn’t a trivial or shallow prayer. I meant it, to the point that I cried many times wanting to be able to give much more than I would ever be able to from a typical paycheck in some regular job.

In response to my prayers, God set me on the path I’ve been describing where I learned (among many other things) about His supernatural system for bringing a person great wealth. One of many surprise discoveries during that time was that there are such things as modern day prophets and apostles! That led to my next realization that I needed a prophet to speak to me with a word from God about my request.

Why You Must Believe & Ask BIG

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

For those who have followed my blogs in the last few years, you know the rest of my story. In July 2015, on one of the worst days of my life, I received the word that I had been going after. It was a personal prophecy from a real modern day apostle who was the only man with the divine status to give me one on the level that I was about to receive (see here: Mega Prophecy). What I was told was not overly detailed but, it did confirm that God was going to give me exactly what I had asked Him for.

As the next several years passed, I learned many things about the Kingdom of God, the supernatural, how to properly interpret dreams and much more. God began showing me cryptic clues in my dreams that gave me the rest of the details about the prophecy I had received. Then, five years later, I found out that the size of my prophecy had greatly increased far beyond anything I could imagine.

The Real Reason For Christmas

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 (KJV)

Before we finish, let’s not forget the real reason for the Christmas season already in full swing. It is the birth of Jesus, the Son of God, who came to free us from our sins and overturn what satan had done 4,000 years earlier.

In a similar way that Jesus gave up what He had in Heaven for our sake, Saint Nicholas also gave up his wealth for the sake of those in need. And that is what inspired me to ask God for something far beyond my ability, so that I could give more than what I had ever been able to during my earlier military career days.

Therefore, when I say that you must think way beyond yourself and believe big and ask big, that is what I mean. As I learned myself, when you ask God for the right things, with the right heart, He most definitely will answer you!!
