In this series, we have dealt with the very harsh and austere reality of following God’s ancient training program that leads to your real purpose with the highest status you can obtain in God’s kingdom. As much as we probably want to “get on with it” and get to the point where we finally receive what God has for us, there is something we need to say a few words about first. The topic of this episode is something I’ve had to go through repeatedly and for a very long time. My response has not always been that great but, I’ve learned some valuable lessons that have made a big difference in how things eventually worked out.

What I really want to accomplish here is to let you know two primary things: 1) that you will have to fight very severe battles and, 2) what you must do to get a victory in the midst of the worst circumstances. I’m writing this from the point where I honestly have to say it took me a very long time before I could really do that second part successfully.

When The Evil Day Is Visited Upon You

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Ephesians 6:13 (KJV)

In the last few years I learned the meaning of the verse above: “the evil day”. It’s the day that comes on you suddenly with or without advance warning in dreams. It’s when things go very badly against you and YOU are the one who has to deal with the disaster. In my case, when those events occurred, many times I became extremely angry and blasted off about what was happening.

I need to emphasize that when you have already given up everything and lived on nothing in some horrible conditions, having very ugly incidents come against you that you cannot do anything about will put you way past your limit. I’m talking about the same kinds of evil things that happened to Job (although I did not lose family members as He did). The circumstances that came upon Job suddenly are exactly what the above verse says: very evil incidents that overwhelm you and there’s nothing you can do about it.

From my experience, most of us don’t respond very well to these satanic attacks. I sure didn’t! In fact, even though we see how Job responded to his situation, many of us will not do as he did (Job 1:21-22). Many of us will lash out at God or go off on a tirade venting all the big words.

Being perfectly honest, I’m not doing anyone here a favor by making you think I’ve been super spiritual when things went horribly wrong. Many times, when the evil day came upon me, I did NOT do what Job did. Truthfully, there have been times when I really wondered if I was still in God‘s plan because of how badly I handled those very evil situations. 

Overcoming All Satanic Warfare

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

So now that I have attempted to describe briefly the reality of being under satanic attack, we need to get to the most important part. I need to explain what I’ve learned to do to fight back at the devil and evil circumstances and turn your situation around and get on the right path to gaining a victory over satan himself.

As I said in the last episode, sudden negative circumstances that come against you produce a war in your mind. You are challenged to either believe in the negative outcome or you can instead choose a positive one. But, this is not an intellectual war; it is a spiritual one.

Yes, the battle is in your mind but, it is your heart that the devil is trying to take over. The pathway to get possession of your heart is through your mind. That is why we read verses about satan using mind blinding strategies to defeat billions of people by various intellectual reasonings and false beliefs (2 Corinthians 4:4).

When you are fighting a war in your mind, either by negative thoughts or from circumstances that are opposing you, you must do something to “change the channel” in your head. What I mean is, you must override the negatives in your mind with Biblical truth that cancels it all out. From my experience, one of the best ways to do that is with the right kind of music.

Dominion Over The War In The Atmosphere

So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

There is a teaching in my parent ministry called the “Strategic Warfare of Praise” that uses the Biblical account of Jericho to show that high level demonic oppression can be broken by sound. Specifically, it is praise music (not worship music) that has the ability to destroy these demonic blockades. Praise music is upbeat and focuses your mind on positive Biblical truths.

As we have seen through the mainstream media, satan understands that by controlling the airwaves, he can take over large regions very quickly. In the natural realm, that is also how wars are won. You defeat a military enemy by controlling the skies over them. As a former Air Force officer, I know this one very well. In the US Air Force, we have developed fighter aircraft that take control of the skies over enemy territory. Once we have “air superiority“, our bomber and attack aircraft come in to destroy military targets on the ground. What we see in the natural realm is a parallel with what goes on in the spiritual realm.

When you play praise music and fill your environment with those sounds, it changes your atmosphere and defeats the negatives coming against you. In my experience, listening to the same songs over and over again is the key to transforming the mind and casting out all negative “fiery darts“ that the devil throws at you. There have been times when things got so bad for me that I had to I have certain songs playing on repeat all night while I tried to sleep.

In order for this praise music strategy to work, you need to find the songs that you really connect with. I am NOT talking about the average “Christian music“ that you hear on the radio. Most of that does not fit the description of praise music and will not work. Praise is a very specific type of music that destroys demonic attacks. After you have defeated the enemy in the atmosphere, then you can use worship music to bring you into the presence of God.

Every now and then, I add to the list and I play those songs myself quite often. If you have a different music streaming service like Spotify, you can do the same thing by creating playlists like mine below.

Spiritual Air War Dominance

Next time you have evil circumstances opposing you or very negative thoughts from the devil coming into your head, do what I’m saying here…

1. Control your atmosphere by playing praise music.
2. Play this music for as long as it takes until your mind begins to feel at peace again.
3. Once you have taken dominion over your atmosphere, then you can switch to worship music and keep that playing in the background.
4. Never allow your environment to be filled with evil sounds and influences or to be too quiet for too long.
5. Myself personally, I always have either music or teaching playing nonstop all day and all night where I live. It makes all the difference and helps prevent the devil from gaining any advantage from the start.

These actions are very effective as I have learned myself over the years. Make this a habit and you will find yourself winning many more spiritual battles and increasing your ability to defeat the devil in all his attacks.
