When I looked further into its meaning, an unexpected revelation hit me that I had never heard before. In the past 12 years of learning to interpret dream symbols, I’ve seen how important distinctions are in reaching the most accurate understanding of what God is trying to tell us. The more we study, the more likely we are to be successful in our life. In this blog, I’m going to tell you the revelation I received about the meaning of symbols that are not well understood in many Biblical dream symbols lists.

Unplugged Appliances In Various Dreams

In this list below are several examples of dreams I’ve had that all have the same repeated theme of an unplugged electrical device. Ever since I began studying dreams in 2011, the only interpretation I’ve known was what I came to realize was overly simplistic and lacking. Until now, I had to go along with what others said but, I just knew something was missing and I was not able to take proper action on what God was trying to tell me as a result.

1. Electrical water heater that doesn’t turn on.
2. Combination heater / audio speaker that needs to be plugged in due to low battery charge.
3. Clothes dryer that is unplugged and won’t work as a result.
4. Electric car (EV) with dead battery.
5. Cell phone with dead battery.

In the general sense, an unplugged appliance / device or a dead battery means you are lacking “energy” or the power of God in your life. In the simplest sense, this is an acceptable interpretation but it lacks specificity. The problem with that is, if you are not detailed enough in your understanding of what God is telling you, then you’re not able to take proper corrective action. To make matters worse, if the dream deals with fulfilling your calling, you are very likely to get behind in God’s timing and things that should be happening in your life will be delayed.

Dream: Dryer Versus Washer? (They Are NOT The Same!!)

February 12, 2025 – I’m switching my clothes from washer to dryer in a house and there is a display screen on the dryer that shows it needs to be plugged in. I never saw that before. I try to start the machine but, I see it’s not plugged into the wall outlet and now the screen is completely blank. 

Rather than give a list of individual symbols, I want to explain the difference between a washer and dryer and the meaning of electricity and appliances. What I’m going to say, I have never heard before from any Biblical dream teacher and I believe you will see why it is the long awaited missing interpretation.

A washing machine is the personal process we go through to be made ready for our new role / position / calling / assignment from God. This is where we get our character flaws fixed so we can complete the work we are assigned without causing a disaster. A washing machine is a process of work that is done in us to remove “stains” and “dirt” (sins and iniquities) from the “fabric” of our own self. It is a cleansing process that deals with our heart (see more here). God uses the kinds of experiences I have described at length in my new series, The Supernatural Entrepreneur, to accomplish that result (Zechariah 3:4 and Exodus 19:14).

A clothes dryer is not the same as a washer because the work of fixing what’s wrong with us was already done by the washer. A dryer, therefore is something completely different. Think of it like this… When your clothes are clean, but they are still wet, you still cannot wear them. You must either hang them up or put them in the dryer and wait until they are dry. This is the Biblical principle of letting patience have its perfect work in order to inherit the promises of God (James 1:3-4 and Hebrews 6:12).

An unplugged appliance, therefore means that while you are waiting for this last step of the process (the dryer), you must be watchful for not losing your zeal, enthusiasm and expectation (a “fervent spirit”). The Biblical passages that deal with this situation is the 5 wise and 5 foolish virgins. The warning here is about not becoming slothful, (which is NOT the same as being lazy). This is about going the extra mile in whatever God has given you to do and having a positive attitude with expectation of receiving what God has for you (Matthew 25:8-9 and Romans 12:11).

A dead battery can represent being discouraged from a long wait and / or by evil circumstances that have worn you out. It can also be from a lack of faith (short faith that lacks endurance and ends too quickly). It’s about having only enough “energy” (enthusiasm or faith) for a certain length of time but then going spiritually dead without a recharge. It can also be about being disconnected from the Holy Spirit. The emphasis here is on making sure that you keep yourself “charged” with enthusiasm and faith that does not run out before the set time that God has appointed for your breakthrough. Having had to deal with all this for a very long time myself, I can say this is easier said than done (see more here; Matthew 14:31 and Acts 1:8).

Electricity and plugging an appliance / device into an outlet is about the power of God or your own zeal / enthusiasm for doing the work God has assigned to you. This is about the joy of the Lord being your strength. This is the key to accomplishing anything that God assigns to us whether short term or a long lasting work. When we read about how God came down to the Israelites on top of the mountain, we see that electrical energy in the form of lightning was very prominently displayed (Nehemiah 8:10, Psalms 21:1-2).

God the Father is the originator of electrical energy and therefore, it should be no surprise that it shows up in our dreams in various ways. Energy powers everything, even down to the cellular level in our bodies (Exodus 19:16 and Psalms 62:11).
