It has now been 10 full years since I started my personal blog site. When I began writing all those years ago, I only intended this to be simply a story of my personal journey of faith and why it changed so much. I really did not plan that very many people would read what I posted and I had no desire to be a “public person” whatsoever. Well, things don’t always go as you plan, right? One thing really bothered me however – I had a really big problem coming up with a domain name and, due to lack of ideas, I just used my own name and called it chrismichals.com. Finally, a few circumstances pushed me to finally change it to a name I came up with several years ago “supernatural science”. Here’s the story behind that name change and why it is the perfect 2-word paradoxical description that could not fit me better…
My Personal Journey
If you are following a new series I started writing, then you probably know my story. I am primarily a science and tech minded guy with a prior 20 year Air Force Career. I flew airplanes (privately), always had an interest in space and computers and did lots of other things that generally don’t fit someone who is overly spiritual (despite the fact I have been Christian my entire life). At some point towards the end of my Air Force career, God began proving to me that there really was a supernatural realm and all the miracles in the Bible still exist today. At the center of my “supernatural awakening” as I call it, was the reality of how God still speaks to us in our dreams at night, which are in the form of nighttime parables.
For lots of reasons, that took over the center stage of all my blogs and then came the surprise when God began revealing my purpose in life in those dreams. Surprisingly to me, that purpose did in fact involve the field of science and technology! It’s a very long story, which you can find in the series I’ve linked towards the bottom here called, “The Supernatural Entrepreneur”.
Much of my life in the last 10+ years has taken on a highly paradoxical shape and has been a bit confusing for people who have known me for a long time. I do have to say, none of this was my idea! I never thought I would be writing blogs about myself, interpreting dreams using Biblical principles, talking about all sorts of advanced Biblical subjects or putting myself out publicly in any way shape or form. For someone with a very technical and scientific mind, all this has been like a pendulum that never seems to find its center. It’s been very challenging for me to put all this together in a way that hardly anyone else out there has done. You could say, I’m sort of a “prototype” in that regard.
So that leads us now to why I am changing the domain name (URL) to supernatural-science.com and letting chrismichals.com expire later this year.
URL: or Uniform Resource Locator, is the unique web address used to identify a specific resource on the internet, such as a webpage or file. It typically includes a protocol (like HTTP or HTTPS), a domain name, and a path to the resource.
How To Handle The Paradox
As I’ve said I really never wanted to be a public person by any means. All throughout my Air Force career and in college, I never went after any top leadership positions. I liked to do my own thing off in a corner where no one noticed me and I did not want any public attention. I liked being a “stealth” and that’s where I functioned best. But, at some point in my supernatural journey, God sort of began pushing me out of that hidden away back room and more out into the open.
If you are very much a private person, you like to stay that way and anything that tries to force you out of your shell will start to cause problems. When you have the spot light shining on you (at least to a certain degree), that begins to put pressure on you that you never wanted. It results in some problems learning how to handle that and many times, I tried to shut down this whole blog site. My problem was that, God gave me this assignment and therefore I could not just turn in my notice and quit (haha).
I’ve had many dreams about my “work” here on this blog site, including those where God more or less told me that this was my “job” and I had better do it. (Wouldn’t it be nice if this job actually paid me something substantial… arg.) To make matters more confusing and challenging for me, I also had many dreams where God showed me I was not allowed to go get a real job to pay my bills and live like a normal human being. Obviously a major problem but, I’ve written about that extensively here already.
So all that leads us to today where I am still explaining the reason for my change of website domain name. I think you get where this is going by now? A few years ago, God gave me the assignment to write a very simple and rather short ebook about how He led me on a path to discover my true purpose in life. I called that book, “The Supernatural Science Of Reaching Your God-Given Purpose” (see link at bottom). I used that title because it accurately describes what God made me to be: a paradox.
When you think of the words “supernatural” and “science”, you do not normally associate them together. They are opposites for lots of obvious reasons. But, that is exactly the kind of life God planned for me. All throughout my last 10+ years, I’ve had a struggle to live in both realms – the supernatural and the scientific. I am primarily a science kind of person and I usually approach everything in a very logical, rational manner. Unfortunately, that is not how the supernatural realm works!

Putting The Focus Back On The Topic
Rather than to tell that part of my story again, let’s move on to something else I touched on a few paragraphs above – the problem of naming this website. I have to say, I am actually very bad at coming up with creative names. I’m not much of an abstract person and so I generally take what already exists and just arrange it in a unique way.
As I said at the top, when I started this website, I had no idea what to call it. I used my name because, 1) it was simple, 2) I never thought it would matter, 3) there was no reason to believe I would have to put myself out there in public. Well, after 10 years of things not exactly going as I had expected, now I’m at the point where I really do not want my name out there in such an obvious way.
Since I am so bad at coming up with creative names, I struggled badly to come up with something else I could call this. But, one idea kept coming back to me – the name I used for my ebook. The more I thought about it, the more it seemed to be the right name to switch this website domain to.
I’ve said before that I am really not a “ministry guy” (except to a very small degree). I am primarily a science and tech guy who just happened to find out that God had an unexpected purpose in mind for him. Here is what I want to convey about the real purpose of this website and the domain name I have now chosen for it…
Going Forward By Remembering The Origin
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 (KJV)
I mostly try to look at the world from the eyes of a child. I know that we really do not know very much about anything. To see all of God’s creation from the perspective of a child is to remain humble and open minded to whatever He wants to teach us. As we get older, we generally do not do that. Most of us get into the trap of intellectual pride where we think we know everything and no one can tell us anything new. Unfortunately, I’ve even seen myself do that in some ways and it can be a fight to stay humble.
By changing the name of this website, and getting a new logo for it, I am making an extra effort to make sure that simple childlike humility remains as a top focus of mine. It also points to the fact that God created everything, including the entire universe, and only He knows how it all works. For anyone (especially Christians) to think you can separate science from the supernatural is really quite ridiculous, despite the fact most of us do that without realizing it. They are 2 very different realms but, there is a way that they fit together.
So, by changing my domain name, I am getting the focus off of myself and putting it back onto the theme God gave me for my life. I am emphasizing WHAT God has been doing, rather than WHO He has been doing it with (or to).
This will of course require me to change my ebooks, videos and social media accounts where I have used chrismichals.com and replace it with supernatural-science.com. That is a severe headache to be honest because there are many places I’m going to have to make those changes. Fortunately, I have at least the rest of this year to do that and I will see if my original chrismichals.com will still lead you to this website with the new domain name. Eventually, everyone will get used to it and I’ll make sure my name is here on different web pages so you can still find me in an online search.
Well, I hope that all makes sense. Personally, this is a huge relief by getting my name off of the spotlight and putting it back on the topic and theme God gave me from the beginning. Let’s see where that takes this site now and if any substantial changes will be required. I’m very much looking forward to it!
NOTE: it may take a few days for the new domain URL to take effect and perhaps merge with my original one.
As always, thank you for reading this and for supporting my work!!
