The Secret Life Of A Supernatural Entrepreneur: Speaking To The Light (Episode 37)

Here’s an idea that took me a very long time to grab on to and internalize. It’s really amazing how there are so many principles all throughout the Bible but, unless we learn them properly, we completely miss the most important things and live a life far beneath what we were created for. Today’s topic is one of those and I can point directly to the culprit of why I did not live most of my life according to this very simple but powerful truth. From experience, I can guarantee that when you are transformed by the simplicity of what I am going to explain here, your life will increasingly change according to all that Jesus taught about regarding the Kingdom of God.

“Say What You Want, Not What You Have”

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Genesis 1:3 (KJV)

From the very first words in the Bible, we see a repeating theme and pattern of how the power of God can overturn all negative circumstances we may face. We see God speaking light into existence, we see the Israelites at Jericho defeating a city just by making a loud shout. We also see Jesus performing miracles simply by speaking them into existence. We have entire an chapter (ie: Hebrews 11) where we are given a history lesson of how the power of faith can produce outcomes inexplicable to the human rational mind.

We have 66 books in the Protestant Bible and 73 in the Catholic, filled with miracles, signs and wonders all clearly showing how our God is a God of positive results in the midst of seemingly negative and insurmountable odds. Yet, if you grew up like me (and millions of others), somehow the simplest foundations of our faith strangely escape our notice. Instead of internalizing the most profound truths written all over the Old and New Testaments, we end up instead spending all our time on “religious doctrines” that produce no useful results in our lives and make us into something very opposite of Jesus. Maybe that was not your experience in your church, but sadly, it was for me – for 40 years!!

It was not until I first began hearing very bold teaching on the Kingdom of God (by my parent ministry) that things began slowly turning around for me. In those teachings, I heard things like “say what you want, not what you have”, “speak decrees like a king”, “speak things into existence like God”, “use your words carefully”, etc. Ok, not all those phrases were direct quotations but you get the point. I was, for the first time in my life, hearing that I was supposed to actually believe the words written in the Bible – including what Jesus taught!

At first, although I wanted to instantly change my mind (ie: “repent”) according to the new teaching, all those decades of “dead religion” that had been beat into my mind were like an immovable obstacle I now had to overcome. I found out first hand that wrong teaching produces strongholds in the mind that are harder to destroy than the walls of Jericho. Timothy’s words of warning against being around religious people who reject the power of God in their life began to make more and more sense to me (2 Timothy 3:5). You will become according to the teaching you listen to (or the people you spend time with) every week.

Stop Battling With Darkness

Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

Luke 7:7 (KJV)

When God put me into my extremely long wilderness training experience, I had more negatives than I can possibly count. Much of it was due to lack of money and resources but it was not limited to that. Not only did I have to deal with the lack of things but, I had severe strongholds of negative thinking to overcome. What I learned in the process is that having a lack of resources is not nearly as bad as having a lack of faith and a negative mindset. It’s one thing when you don’t have the things you need but, piling a negative and angry attitude on top of that is infinitely worse.

Think about it, would you rather go through a bad experience with a positive mindset, knowing that you will have a positive outcome or would you rather just be angry for who knows how long?? Jesus even said, “according to your faith, let it be done to you…” (Matthew 9:29). Yes, and from experience I think we can all agree it’s easier said than done in some circumstances (but we still try to make this increasingly our mindset even when we fail at it).

Do you not know that your emotional state will produce a result with your physical health? If all you have is a negative mindset, it has been proven that eventually, you will get a sickness or disease. I’ve experienced that myself and I’ve seen it happen to others in my close circle of family and friends. Backing up to the top of this episode – where do we ever see Jesus teaching His disciples to have a negative attitude and harboring negative emotions?? Right, we don’t. So, why then is it that many of us grew up as I did looking at our life and the world with a negative expectation??

Ok, so let’s now deal with the title I chose for this episode. There is a lengthy teaching by my spiritual father, David E. Taylor, about the Empire of God where he deals with this theme of speaking to the light rather than battling with darkness in your life. In the books and audio teachings, Apostle Taylor talks about Biblical pattern where God spoke light into existence without ever once acknowledging the darkness. He then goes on to show how Jesus worked miracles by either being a king or by being an emperor. In the cases where Jesus spoke to a negative condition, He was acting like a king but, when He ignored the negatives completely, He was acting like an emperor.

I won’t go into all the elaborate details in that teaching for lots of reasons here but you can get it directly yourself using the link below…

Are You Fully Persuaded??

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

Mark 11:23 (KJV)

What I’m trying to tell you here is, you need to take a good look at how you view your life circumstances and consider what comes out of your mouth. Are you speaking in agreement with any negatives or are you speaking in faith to overturn them? Do you have the same negative mental strongholds I was raised with or have you overcome them yet? Do you really believe in your heart (not in your mind) that any challenge you face WILL be overcome with a positive outcome, no matter how bad things look?

Let’s make all this very practical here… if you’ve been reading all my episodes in this series, then you know about some of the challenges I’ve had to deal with (for a very long time). I’ve had debts I could not pay, banks trying to collect from me (when I had nothing to pay with), and I’ve had people constantly harass me over lack of finances and lack of a job (just to name a few). Then to have people accuse me of being “selfish” and make up in their head what they think God does or does not do (ok, genius).

Hey, I do what God tells me to, to the best of my ability. If someone wants to come along and try to make me bow to their impatient, prideful, self-righteous attitude, well, there are Bible verses about not giving up your crown to anyone else (Revelation 3:11).

But, at some point during all those evil situations, I finally got it in my head (or heart) that I was fully able to believe all my Kingdom / Empire of God teaching and stop letting those situations get me into fear, doubt, worry and all kinds of negative thoughts. When people came at me harassing me over money, I began increasingly to see through their words, to the long list of negative mindsets they had chosen to live by. I began to see that living by faith and a positive expectation was a far better way of life than to go around constantly focusing on the negatives.

These days, I am so much better able to see through all those negative attitudes and just skip the devil’s attempt to make me give up my kingship crown of faith. Now it’s your turn, how is it going for you…

  • What negatives are you having to deal with in your life right now?
  • Are you tolerating negatives or overthrowing them by speaking in faith?
  • Are you FULLY persuaded of a positive outcome (or only halfway)?
  • Are you letting people around you drag you down to focus on the negatives rather than standing in faith, knowing that your victory is coming soon?
