Perhaps you know that animals of all types are common symbols in your dreams. I have dealt with this several times in the past and today, I have another great example of a dream that involves three different kinds of animals all merged into one. The dream uses the character traits of the animals to describe a person. In this blog, I will tell you the entire dream and explain how each animal, plus the setting (location) where the dream took place, all points to a very relevant situation going on in my life. Next time you see animals in your dreams, this will help you understand how God uses them as a metaphor which applies to some aspect of your personal life.

Dream: A Skunk-Possum, Snake & A Hole

March 29, 2025 – There is a skunk with a pointy triangular mouth (like a possum), with very large, prominent and tightly closed teeth. It is on the side of a relative’s house where I had previously been living, by the trees near guest bedroom where I stayed. The skunk pulls something down into a hole that is made of metal ducting tubes and disappears. (The ducting is like the kind used for air flow inside houses). The hole is inside a small square, old looking concrete platform in the ground. There was a somewhat large colorful snake skin there also on the top of the pad, near the hole. I walked up to the strange sight and looked down the ducting hole to try to see what was going on. It was a very strange sight.

Here are the primary symbols interpreted…

• Skunk = this represents a person with the following characteristics: 1) they are passive-defensive (they do not attack); instead they 2) give off a foul odor which represents a lying tongue or an evil spirit in them which may attempt to push people away.
• Possum = this represents a person who is fearful and lacks boldness, due to the animal’s survival tactic of playing dead when they feel threatened.
• Clenched teeth (large) = this is a person who is holding onto anger; they are showing their teeth but, because the mouth is tightly closed, it could mean they are not saying anything or that they are showing their teeth as a sign of aggression.
• Hole = this is a hiding place where things are being taken down away from the sight of others.
• Ducting = normal holes in the ground are just plain dirt; this one was unusual because it was made of these metal tubes which represents a man made path / structure specifically created to be a well thought out and constructed hiding place for something valuable.
• Snake skin = first, snakes generally represent deception; second, the old skin is left on the surface due to the animal’s shedding; this represents a person who shed their past ways (although the evidence of the problem is still visible); usually snakes shed their skin because they grow in size which can indicate that the deceptive characteristics have become much worse now; as a general rule, reptiles in dreams are almost always a bad sign.
• Relative’s house = this means the dream is about a present day situation which affects me personally because the scene took place right next to the room where I used to stay; generally, the front of a house represents the future, whereas the backyard can be the past; this was on the side of the house which means it is a right now situation ongoing at the time of the dream.
• Looking down hole = this is me getting up close to a strange looking situation to investigate and figure out what is going on, especially regarding what is being taken down into the hole and hidden there.

Dream Confirms Investigation

Now that we have explained the meaning of each symbol, let me put it together in a way that should help anyone who is still missing the primary message. This dream was a personal message to me about someone who has been acting in a strange way. The three animals represent the characteristics of one person. When you put them all together, you get a passive-defensive person who is fearful or timid. They have concocted a deception to hide something in an elaborate manner so that no one can find out what they have been doing. However, God knows everyone’s secrets and He has revealed what the person has been doing.

I do actually know exactly what this dream is pointing to in my real life circumstances. In fact, the dream was a perfectly timed “prophetic coincidence” that confirmed something I had been already looking into. On the morning of this dream, I had just posted the second of my new series, “Sherloque Benoit, Supernatural Detective”. The new series had just begun with an investigation into a 3-year unsolved mystery.

As I considered each of the elements of this dream, I began to understand it was God’s way of confirming that my suspicions about the case were correct. In short, a plot of deception was made against me several years ago and now that I had begun this new series, I was discovering the proof of what was done. If you look again at the explanation of this dream above, I believe you can get the idea of what I’m referring to. Because the investigation is still ongoing, I must leave out some of the details for now.
