This week, I had a dream that was effectively a parable of life. As with many of my previous dreams, the meaning was initially perplexing until I started taking it apart, symbol by symbol. As I did, according to my normal method of interpreting, the meaning of the dream became increasingly clear. As you may have guessed, the dream used an illustration of a rock that was very plain on the outside but very beautiful on the inside. If you’re new to the idea of God speaking to you in nighttime parables of this sort, keep reading! I’m going to tell you about this recent dream and how it fits perfectly into the theme of this whole series.
A Nighttime Parable Of A Rock
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
1 Peter 3:4 (KJV)
Dream (September 2025) – I’m talking to a guy and showing him a small rock that I have. It’s got lots of amazing sand colors on the inside (polished and shiny) and the outside looks like sand stone with large stripes in 2 colors – light sandy beige and brown. I’m saying something about how you never know what’s on the inside of rocks unless you break them open like geodes. We are in a shop of his and he tells me that when you break open the rocks, you kill them. He goes to a table behind the counter and starts playing a video in the form of a very wide panoramic and tells me to just watch it. The explanation of what he said was in that video.
Here is the breakdown and interpretation of each of the primary symbols of the dream along with the relevant Biblical passages where the basis of the interpretation can be found. For those who are new to how God speaks in dreams, this is the method of proper Bible-based dream interpretation…
- Rock = the basic elements of creation found all throughout the universe, this represents something that effectively lasts forever, and speaks of eternal matters (Genesis 1:10).
- Sand colors = this sets the overall context of the dream by indicating that it is about the human nature of the flesh (Genesis 2:7).
- Geode = a rock that is very plain looking and grey on the outside but inside, it is filled with crystals and gems of many different beautiful colors; the outer grey plain appearance represents humility and death to self, while the inside represents the heart of a person who has gone through the process of developing Godly attributes (Revelation 21:19, 1 Samuel 16:7).
- Crystals = these take a very long time to form in the natural, this represents the lengthy process we must endure in order to develop the character traits that make us valuable in God’s sight (1 Corinthians 3:11-15, Proverbs 17:3, 1 Peter 3:4).
- Polished = this represents the process of making the rough places in our character smooth which only happens by the process of development that I have written in this series extensively (Isaiah 40:4, Matthew 11:29).
- Killing (the rock) = this represents putting our old sinful nature to death before the inner beauty can be revealed; essentially, this is about death to self / the works of the flesh (Romans 6:6, Ephesians 4:22).
- Panoramic = a very wide / broad perspective on a matter; this represents the extensiveness and multi-dimensional process of character development and also points to the trait of meekness which is represented by broadness (see excerpt from reference below, Ephesians 3:17-19, Matthew 11:29).
- Video = this refers to telling a story in the form of a documentary for teaching / learning purposes; it refers to both the resources I have learned from myself, along with these episodes where I have given an extensive account of God’s ancient wilderness development process (Malachi 3:16, Jeremiah 30:2, Revelation 1:11).
In short, we can briefly summarize the meaning of this dream by saying that we achieve an eternal value that endures forever by going through a process of death to self which then results in our development of both meekness and humility. As a result, we then become of great (or exceedingly great) value in God’s sight, which then qualifies us to receive corresponding eternal rewards in Heaven.
NOTE: For those who are curious about my interpretation of the panoramic (wide perspective), below is one brief excerpt from a reference that explains what the traits of humility and meekness are within the 4 dimensions of Ephesians 3:17-19. For the entire comprehensive teaching, please get that book which is linked in this quote…
“And then you have some ministers and ministries who are high and are promoted and known everywhere but their teachings are shallow because they lack depth. Everybody knows them but they teach on very elementary basic truths and hardly if ever are they able to teach on the mysteries of the kingdom. Their ministries therefore never mature to Sonship. The point is that you can have three sides of Christ and lack one side, but you need all four sides of Christ. You must develop both the heart of humility and the heart of meekness to get the fullness of God. Remember that humility buys you height and length and meekness buys broadness or breadth and depth. When you develop the character and heart of meekness and humility, the issues of your life will change.”

Timeless, Indestructible, Enduring & Immortal
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
John 12:24 (KJV)
Now that we have walked through the interpretation of each of the primary symbols, and then put it all together with a summary the meaning, now we can look at the application of it to our daily life. At this point, I probably do not need to go into extensive detail about the process of character development since that is the primary theme in all these 74 episodes to date. In short, this dream accurately illustrates what we all must go through in order to be ready to fulfill the real, unique and singular purpose for which God created us and put us here in this lifetime right now.
From the illustration in the dream, this process requires a very long time, with pressure and negative circumstances applied to us from every direction so that we come out looking like a shiny gemstone of great value. Contrarily, those who do NOT go through this process, end up looking like a regular grey rock – it is grey on the outside and grey on the inside. There is nothing of value in such a person according to God’s perfect and eternal system of measurement.
I believe God gave me this dream at this time now to further emphasize the purpose of the process and to hint that I have developed some of those attributes myself in all this time. As with dreams like this, it usually requires much more time for the full meaning in all its dimensions to be revealed – usually a period of years. I learned a couple decades ago how God speaks to us in these multi-dimensional ways and, if you continue meditating on His words, you gain more and more insight as time goes on.
I would like to hold off on further elaboration on the dream and the associated development process for now and just let this be as is. If you are new to this series, I strongly recommend going all the way back to episode 1 and reading them all in succession. You can also find this ongoing and indefinite series in ebook, paperback and audio book formats on my store page.
This series was intended to show the day to day snapshots of all that I have learned in the last 10+ years in God’s “ancient training program” which is required, if any of us is to discover and fulfill the full purpose for which God put us here in this lifetime. As I’ve said many times before, there is NO shortcut to this process but, when you go through it, God will reveal things far beyond anything you could have imagined about His true purpose for your life! This is what He has done with me and I guarantee He will do it for you!
And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Daniel 12:3 (KJV)
