It’s time to take a short break from writing about the status of the energy tech invention and the nuclear war prophecy. This time, we are returning to common dreams again by telling about a recent dream where many of the symbols you frequently see appeared. In this blog, I will explain what your childhood house means, along with a few other symbols including trees, backyards, types of soil and stormy skies. As you will see, this was a dream with a personal message regarding circumstances that have taken place in the last several months.
What does it mean to dream about your childhood house, a backyard, trees, or a dark stormy sky? In Biblical dream interpretation, a childhood house almost always signals that the dream carries a personal message, often about your current life or family circumstances. A backyard points to private matters hidden from public view, dark or stormy skies represent a season of personal adversity meant to produce growth, and trees or rich dark soil often symbolize prosperity and a good, receptive heart. Together, these common symbols frequently describe a season of hardship that is quietly producing spiritual fruit.
Dream – Childhood House, Stormy Skies & New Personal Development
April 21, 2023 – I’m in the bedroom of my childhood house. I just arrived there after driving a little while. I’m looking out the backyard because it’s windy with dark grey skies. There are two sections of unusual trees growing in square shaped plots with very dark earth. Then I’m listening to music on headphones while sitting / laying on the bed.
[This was the first part of the dream, the second part contained elements that went beyond the scope of this blog topic.]
- Childhood house = this always indicates that the dream contains a personal message about your life at this time, it can represent matters of your childhood upbringing that are relevant to your life right now; it can represent either your literal biological family or symbolically, your spiritual family.
- Backyard = what is not seen to the casual passerby (as opposed to the front yard which is out in public view), this location indicates the dream contains a message about the inside (heart) of the person(s).
- Driving = a personal journey that was undertaken to get to this point which the dream speaks about.
- Dark sky & wind = personal adversity, challenging situations and trials which should produce new personal and spiritual development.
- Trees = these can have many meanings but, in context of this dream, it represents prosperity (as in planting a garden – see Ecclesiastes 2:5 below).
- Dark earth = in real life, this would be rich soil for planting a garden, this represents good soil and a good heart (see Matthew 13:8 below).
- 2 plots = the meaning of this is only known personally due to my direct knowledge of how the last several months has been – one plot represents me and the other represents my wife.
- Square plots = a square has many meanings but, in context of this dream, it can represent order, structure and diligence (think of how farmers plant their crops in orderly fields and how the Bible speaks of the corners of a field, which indicates square-ish shapes); additionally a square having 4 sides can represent a new creative work, in this case, what has been worked inside as said above for “backyard”.
- Music = in real life, I often play the kind of Christian worship music that puts me in the right mindset and “in the Spirit”.
| Symbol | Common Biblical/Symbolic Meaning |
|---|---|
| Childhood house | A deeply personal message, often about your current life, your family upbringing, biological family, or spiritual family |
| Backyard | Private, hidden matters — the internal condition of the heart, as opposed to what’s publicly visible, often also points to things in your past |
| Driving | A personal journey undertaken to reach a current point in life |
| Dark sky and wind | Personal adversity and challenging trials meant to produce spiritual growth |
| Trees | Prosperity, in the sense of a planted, cultivated life (Ecclesiastes 2:5) |
| Dark, rich earth/soil | Good soil and a good, receptive heart (Matthew 13:8) |
| Square shape | Order, structure, and diligence; can also represent new creative work |
| Music (in a dream) | Being led into a worshipful, Spirit-led mindset |
Real Life Circumstances
In the last six months since moving from New York to Colorado, many very unpleasant and challenging circumstances have arisen due to significant lack of resources. The financial resources that were supposed to have been given fully, before this trip began, were not given (story for a later time). Rather than immediately being able to start the global energy tech business, buy a house, and pay all bills, things were very much the opposite.
The windy, dark grey skies in the dream, combined with the initial drive to the house, were the clue that the dream was about the last six months. In the midst of the very negative and unexpected circumstances, significant personal growth had taken place (dark soil and trees). Somehow, things barely worked out but, the emphasis is on the word “barely“.
That’s all I plan to say at this time about the real life circumstances but, you get the idea as the dream indicates. What I really wanted to point out was how one of the most common symbols (childhood house) can appear in your dreams as a parable that speaks of your personal life. Add to that, how the backyard setting further narrows down the meaning to private personal matters which can refer to things that take place on the inside (heart) of a person.

Personal Outcome Revealed
Fortunately, as the dream shows, the result of the negative situations produced a very positive outcome as shown by the dark soil and the two plots of trees. Each of these symbols speak about “soul prosperity”, which is required in order for God to give material prosperity.
That now leads us back to the energy tech business which will require massive amounts of money, as already decreed to me by my spiritual father (David E. Taylor) over a year ago. Recent indications do indicate that this long overdue money is now almost here.
Remember also that this was only the first part of the dream. I omitted the second half because it dealt with another whole set of symbols which could be better explained in a separate blog. Sometimes it’s better to do that in order to keep the focus of the blog on explaining the most important symbols. In case you’re wondering, YES, I have used this literary tactic in the past regarding dreams I write about here!
In the next section are a few of many relevant Bible verses that apply to the dream. If you were to do a key word search using some of the primary symbols listed above, you would find many more relevant verses. That is how you do Biblical dream interpretation!
Relevant Bible Verses
I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
Ecclesiastes 2:5 (KJV)
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
3 John 1:2 (KJV)
But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
Matthew 13:8 (KJV)
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
2 Corinthians 4:17 (KJV)
Common Dreams
The primary elements of this dream fall into the category of “common dreams” because the symbols that appeared show up frequently in our dreams. Many people have dreams that include some of the symbols seen in this dream, even if they appear separately or combined with different settings or symbols.
You can find out more about common dreams and common symbols in many of my blogs which further explain these. Also, you can get an ebook I wrote not long ago with 50+ common dreams and the real life circumstances that existed at that time. Frequently Asked Questions: Childhood House & Nature Symbols in Dreams
Why does the same dream symbol sometimes mean different things in different dreams?
Many symbols, including trees, squares, or numbers, carry multiple possible meanings depending on the surrounding context of the dream and the dreamer’s real-life circumstances. Personal knowledge of what is happening in your life at the time is often essential to choosing the correct meaning among several possibilities. Always be led by the Holy Spirit, look for Bible-based dream symbols lists and seek the help of a competent, Bible-based dream interpreter when you are unable to discern the correct meaning.
Why does a childhood house appear in a dream instead of your current home?
A childhood house often shifts the message further back — toward foundational beliefs, upbringing, or an early-life root issue that’s still relevant now, in your present circumstances. Your current home appearing instead usually points to only your present-day life or season, not necessarily related to your childhood past.
Can a dream about hardship (like a dark, stormy sky) still be a good sign?
Yes. Dreams with difficult imagery aren’t automatically warnings — many carry a positive message once the full picture is understood, since Scripture frequently ties hard seasons to growth and eventual fruit. The other symbols present in the dream usually clarify whether the trial has already passed, is ongoing, or is producing something good.
