Just recently, I had what I considered to be a very unusual dream. The dream took place in the setting of an indoor swimming pool with large salt rock crystals all around. Several other complex symbols were included and the true meaning was not that easy to understand. After considering the dream for some time, the meaning began to unravel and I discovered a few some things I had never known before. Here’s the dream and the many symbols deciphered…

Dream: A Salt Pool With An Underwater Room

October 21, 2024 – I’m in a big room with a swimming pool that’s about 8-10 feet deep. There are big salt crystals all around the sides of the pool and it seemed like we were putting more salt in the water even though it seemed there was already enough or even too much in there. Some of the crystals were in the water around the edges and they did not dissolve.

A woman is there and she says something about needing me to do something but I did not hear what it was. She jumped into the pool and opens some doors at the bottom and then walks into a room that’s all lit up. I hear people talking from down in that room. I’m thinking that I do not want to go down under the water like that and I was wondering about that room there. Then I go from the end of the pool (about 20 feet long) to the side just above where the doors are and I’m wondering about the salt crystals and the water that seems over saturated with it.

Then, I’m thinking about a dolphin in the pool but I did not actually see one there. Lastly, I’m looking up at the ceiling and it looks a little like the chapel at the university I graduated from with stained glass windows with large metal beams. Dark setting, the entire scene was grey with dim lighting. No one else was there other than myself and the unknown woman.

Here are the primary symbols interpreted…

• Salt = a fertilizer, a salary (from Roman times), covenant, purification, and preservative (see more here).
• Saturated water = a good environment for spiritual growth (based on the fertilizer theme), potentially nutrient rich (as the Dead Sea in Israel).
• Swimming pool = the deep things of God, the realm of the Holy Spirit, a place of resources, God’s blessings, one’s church / home / family (see more here).
• Swimming / diving = being immersed in the spiritual realm, the deep things of God, searching for things not seen on the surface (see more here).
• Down / under = (the water) can represent dealing with things beneath the surface in our character and heart, the realm of mysteries, deep things hidden far beneath the surface that must be searched, can refer to a Biblical study / research assignment.  
• Door = can represent a spiritual portal to a different location, the act of crossing a threshold / entrance way to discover some new experience.
• Room underneath = a storehouse for knowledge / the things of God, resources, anything needed to make things work for your assignment.
• Lights on = new knowledge, a revelation from God, new ideas.
• Talking = (in the room) literal discussions, ideas, conversations, information exchanged, words of knowledge, having honest talks with God about what is “down under”.
• Woman = often represents wisdom or the Holy Spirit.  
• Needing me for = an assignment / task to be completed, something I need to do which will lead to untold but usually positive results.
• Not wanting to go = resistant to do something, can be a confirmation / clue to what the dream is really about (whether due to fear, a personally distasteful topic, or any other reason why I might want to avoid a task / activity).
• Chapel = indicates the overall message of this dream is about spiritual matters.
• University = the dream deals with learning at a higher level / advanced stage; in my case, the university I graduated from was a military service academy which also puts the theme of this dream within the Kingdom of God (see here).
• Alone = the dream is focused on myself regarding the assignment I was given by the “woman”, this points to an independent assignment / task God has given me to accomplish.
• Dolphin = characteristics including intelligent, good communicator, good in teamwork scenarios, friendly, used for public displays / evangelism.
• Dark grey setting = hidden things and the realm of uncertainty / the unknown, receiving wisdom.

With each of these symbols separated and interpreted, let’s now be a detective and put them all back together again to see what kind of message we can find…

Interpretation & Real Life Context

At the time of this dream, I had no idea what it related to in real life. As the days passed afterwards, I did my usual… I wrote down whatever came to mind (including what I was able to look up) for the possible meanings of each symbol. But, even after 10 days of that, I still could not understand what the meaning was and what action I needed to take in response to this night time enigma.

After about 2 full weeks, I did something that used to be quite normal for me (except recently). I started writing blogs again after what had been an approximate 3 month break. One early morning after 3:00 AM, I looked at this dream again and started thinking it might have something to do with my blog writing. In the days before, I had just written the first 2 posts after that long time off. Then suddenly, I got an idea for a whole new extended series.

With that new idea, I was now starting to feel like I was making a connection with my dream. Here’s how…

A dolphin is a good communicator, the water represents being fully immersed in the spiritual realm. Both of these do fit the idea of writing about dreams and the supernatural. A chapel with no one else in it looks a lot like my writing since it is an independent, Holy Spirit-led effort. My resistance to going into the pool is a good description of how hard it can be to return to writing after a long time away. The oversaturated salt water can refer to my blogs because, I often wonder if I have already spoken more than enough on certain topics.

The Significance Of The Mysterious Assignment

Let’s go back to a key detail in the dream now… An unknown woman appeared and told me I needed to do something. She didn’t say what it was but it was clear that the task was important. Often in dreams, a woman represents wisdom or the Holy Sprit (even though He is a He). When you combine both of those meanings with the other symbols above, it all starts to make a lot of sense.

But, if this were really about returning to my blog writing, why would that be so significant? Well, the answer to that question may start to materialize when considering the theme of my new series: “The Secret Life of A Supernatural Entrepreneur”. If this dream really is about that series, then why does it matter?

Go back to the dolphin. What does that symbol mean? A communicator, something used in public shows, a friendly and teachable person who can be led by a trainer. Does this start to look like an evangelistic outreach assignment? YES, possibly.

My testimony of how God changed my life over a decade ago is exactly the above. It’s “my story” but, if you think about it, it’s really the story God gave me as I went on a diligent pursuit of looking for Him and His purpose for putting me here in this life.
