Independent Mind is Now Available – A Practical Guide to Thinking Clearly in a Confusing World

I’m excited to announce that my new book Independent Mind: A Practical Guide to Critical Thinking and Intellectual Independence is now officially available! If you’ve been following my recent blogs on the topic of learning to think independently, you know why I felt the need to write this new book and why it fills a critical void in a modern day confusing, contradictory and noisy world. This is the result of my own independent research project to answer a question I had years ago — to learn the skills of learning to think independently and critically. Now, after serious research and consolidation of all that I discovered, I wanted to make sure others had the opportunity to benefit from the practical tools that logically teach you how to learn to use your own brain in the midst of a world filled with narratives and agendas.

Why I Wrote This Book

Truthfully, I did NOT set out to write a book on independent thinking — it found me.

Over the past 25 years, I slowly came to realize that the world is not as we’ve been told. It started with learning the real story behind the origins of the American financial system — a rabbit hole that changed how I looked at almost everything. Then came the wars: the more I studied, the harder it became to accept the official explanations for why they were fought and who they actually served.

When I became an intelligence officer in the Air Force, I discovered that clear, disciplined thinking wasn’t just a personal interest — it was a professional necessity. Proper methods of analysis, source evaluation, and resisting bias weren’t optional. They were the job. But the problem was, hardly anyone was teaching these skills!

Then came 2020. The COVID-19 era ripped the curtain back in a way that was impossible to ignore. What became clear — not just to me, but to millions of others — was that mainstream media, government agencies, and major institutions had not been giving us the full picture for a very long time. In fact, it was becoming obvious that we had all been the subject of deliberate deceptions and mind control strategies designed to enslave and mass murder millions of people.

At the same time, hard evidence began to surface, agreeing with common sense that our elections had been falsified for decades and our politicians were not elected, but put in place by people and organizations that were nearly impossible to identify. And that brings us right back to the start where my awakening began — by studying truth about central banks, fiat currencies and the blackmail system that tied everything together.

At that point, I knew that learning to think for yourself wasn’t just useful. It was urgent. And I realized the practical roadmap for doing so simply didn’t exist in one place — so I built it.

I wrote this out of my own personal self-initiated research to find out what the hard principles were for how to think for yourself and critically analyze information.

This book was written for a very specific reason: most of us were never taught how to think clearly and independently. We were taught what to think, but rarely how to think — especially when facing pressure, emotion, group consensus, or sophisticated manipulation.

Independent Mind changes that. It offers a complete, step-by-step system to help you build a stronger, more resilient mind capable of cutting through noise, bias, and deception.

What Makes This Book Different

There are many books on critical thinking, but most fall into one of two categories: overly academic textbooks filled with theory, or shallow “think positive” guides that lack real substance.

Independent Mind was designed to be different. It is intensely practical. Every chapter moves from clear explanation to real-world application, with reflection prompts and exercises you can use the same day. The progression is deliberate — starting with the basics of how your brain actually works and gradually building more advanced skills. It respects the reader’s time while delivering depth that actually sticks.

What’s Inside the Book – Chapter Overview

The book is structured as a progressive 10-chapter course:

  • Chapter 1 explores how thinking actually works (System 1 vs System 2) and introduces the simple but powerful “Three Questions” habit that creates an immediate pause between reaction and clear thinking.
  • Chapter 2 dives into cognitive biases — those predictable mental shortcuts that distort our judgment. You’ll learn how to spot confirmation bias, the availability heuristic, anchoring, and others in real time, with practical examples from everyday life and current events.
  • Chapter 3 covers logical fallacies — the structural errors that appear constantly in arguments, news, and debates. You’ll learn to recognize straw man, false dilemma, appeal to emotion, and more, plus the valuable skill of steel-manning opposing views.
  • Chapter 4 teaches you to question hidden assumptions and properly evaluate evidence, including the crucial difference between correlation and causation.
  • Chapter 5 focuses on media literacy — how to analyze news, headlines, framing, and source reliability using the CRAAP test and other straightforward tools.
  • Chapter 6 breaks down classic and modern propaganda techniques so you can spot emotional manipulation before it takes hold.
  • Chapter 7 examines groupthink and social pressure, drawing on famous experiments like Asch and Milgram, and teaches practical ways to maintain independent judgment even when the group pushes hard.
  • Chapter 8 introduces probabilistic thinking and basic epistemology — moving beyond binary “true or false” thinking to more accurate, humble ways of updating beliefs with evidence.
  • Chapter 9 brings everything together through real-world case studies, showing how to apply the full toolkit under pressure.
  • Chapter 10 focuses on building lasting habits so independent thinking becomes your new default rather than a temporary effort.

In addition to the ten main chapters, Independent Mind includes valuable reference material:

  • Appendix A: Anti-Manipulation Checklist
  • Appendix D: Your Independent Mind – 30-Day Habit Builder
  • Appendix E: Source Vetting – Intelligence Community Methods for Everyday Use

These tools make the book easy to return to again and again as a practical handbook.

The book also includes: a comprehensive Anti-Manipulation Checklist, a Glossary of key terms, Recommended Resources, chapter toolboxes for quick reference and quizzes to reinforce learning.

Why These Skills Matter Now More Than Ever

Let’s make this concrete with real-world examples of what you’ll be better equipped to handle:

When you understand System 1 vs System 2 thinking, you’ll catch yourself reacting emotionally to a alarming headline instead of pausing to think. You’ll recognize when your brain is on autopilot and deliberately engage the slower, more accurate part of your mind.

With knowledge of cognitive biases, you’ll be far less likely to fall for confirmation bias when scrolling social media. Instead of only seeing posts that confirm what you already believe, you’ll start noticing when you’re ignoring inconvenient evidence.

Learning logical fallacies helps you spot weak arguments instantly — whether it’s a politician using a straw man attack or a friend oversimplifying a complex issue into a false dilemma. You’ll stop wasting energy arguing against distorted versions of ideas.

Media literacy and propaganda awareness become extremely valuable when headlines are designed to trigger fear or outrage. You’ll be able to ask better questions about framing, omissions, and emotional manipulation instead of simply absorbing the narrative.

Understanding groupthink and social pressure gives you tools to stand firm when family, workplace, or online communities push for conformity. You’ll know how to voice disagreement calmly and effectively without becoming isolated.

Finally, probabilistic thinking helps you move away from all-or-nothing beliefs. You’ll learn to update your confidence gradually as new evidence appears, rather than swinging wildly between certainty and doubt.

These are not abstract academic skills. They are practical tools that protect your time, money, relationships, health decisions, and peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this book for beginners or do I need a background in critical thinking? No background needed at all. The book starts from the ground up — Chapter 1 literally explains how your brain works — and builds progressively from there. That said, even readers who are already familiar with concepts like cognitive bias or logical fallacies will find new frameworks and practical tools they haven’t seen presented this way before.

How does this connect to the blog? Directly. The research and ideas behind Independent Mind grew out of years of writing on this site. If you’ve been following along with the pre-release blog series, the book is the complete, organized, practical system behind everything I’ve been covering. Think of the blog posts as individual lessons — the book is the full course.

What format should I get? It comes down to how you read. If you like to highlight, write in margins, and physically interact with the material, go paperback or PDF. If you’re always on your phone or commuting, Kindle or the ElevenReader audiobook are excellent options. The content is identical across all formats. Please note not all formats will be available from the first day of release due to complex upload / processing procedures.

Why did you self-publish rather than go through a traditional publisher? Because I wanted to get this into people’s hands quickly and without filters. Traditional publishing can take years and often waters down content to appeal to the broadest possible audience. This book needed to say exactly what it says, without compromise — and self-publishing made that possible.

Final Thoughts

Writing this book has been one of the most rewarding projects I’ve undertaken. My goal was to create something genuinely useful — a guide that doesn’t just explain critical thinking but actually helps you practice it in daily life.

If you’re ready to move from feeling confused or manipulated to feeling clear and confident in your own judgment, I invite you to pick up a copy of Independent Mind.

The world isn’t getting simpler. The ability to think independently has never been more valuable.

Thank you for following along with these pre-release posts. I’m grateful for your support, and I hope the book serves you well on your journey toward greater intellectual freedom.
